Frank Spotnitz on X-Files 2:
Thanks ScriptGrrrl! Frank Spotnitz posted some information about the 2nd X-Files movie on his website. In response to a fan's inquiry about X-Files 2, Frank writes:
"This is, not surprisingly, the question I am asked most frequently whenever I encounter X-Files fans. I’m happy to confirm – as David has in several interviews – that the rumors about a second X-Files feature film are true. In fact, the studio approached us about doing another feature way back in the summer of 2001, before the ninth and final season of the series was even broadcast. I can’t speak to the accuracy of the timetable you outline above, but I can tell you that Chris and I have been working on the story for some time. If and when contract negotiations with the studio are finally concluded, we will get to work on the script right away."

In the September 2004 Edition of The X-Files Official Fan Club Newsletter Chris Carter talks a little about the 2nd X-Files movie ... Second 'X-Files' Film Just Talk, So Far:
There have been some articles on the web stating that Robert Patrick would reprise his role as Agent Doggett in the 2nd X-Files movie. The comments may have been premature. From Zap2It.com (usually an accurate source): "While doing press for "Ladder 49," Patrick says he has had no official offers from the filmmakers to star in the second "X-Files" movie." Chris Carter Interview:
There was an interview with Chris Carter in the X-Files Fan Club's July 2004 newsletter. Read it here. There is not much about X-Files, it's primarily about Millennium. In the September issue of the newsletter, Chris Carter will talk about X-Files and the next X-Files movie. Stay tuned!

Gillian Anderson talks X-Files 2:
"thefreakyone" sent along an audio clip of Gillian Anderson talking about X-Files at the Buskaid fundraising concert. She says contracts are being drawn up for the X-Files 2 Movie! The quality of the audio clip is poor, but you can download it here (809KB). Also, Gillian Anderson's July 6th message on GAWS includes news about X-Files 2 (read full message here):
"It does indeed appear that the XF movie will be underway in the next year but a lot has to happen between now and then and a lot can happen between now and then. But it looks promising. Chris does not want to reveal at this point who or what will be in it but I got the impression it's going to be one scary mother."

Mulder is TV Guide's #7 Sci-Fi Legend!:
One of the covers of the August 1-7, 2004 edition of TV Guide has Fox Mulder (and Alf!) on the cover.
#7
Fox Mulder
The X-Files
FOX, 1993-2002

We thought we knew at least one truth out there: Guys obsessed with UFOs probably spent too much time trapped in high school lockers. Then came FBI agent Fox Mulder, and chasing aliens looked pretty cool. David Duchovny played a sci-fi geek with sex appeal. Series creator Chris Carter says, "David really nailed it when he said, 'If this character had a pen protector in his pocket, he wouldn't have been successful.'"

CC talks about X-Files 2:
From the Official X-Files Fanclub June 2004 Newsletter (Sign up here for the free newsletters):
Chris Carter seems more ready than ever to do an X-Files movie. In an exclusive interview with The X-Files Official Fan Club, he said that things are indeed moving forward on a big-screen version of our favorite series. "I just had breakfast with David [Duchovny] this morning," he revealed. "I'm seeing Gillian [Anderson] in the next few days. Frank Spotnitz and I have cooked up an idea. Twentieth Century Fox wants to do it. It's just a matter of getting the deals done." We'll have more on next The X-Files movie in the months to come!

X-Files 2 News:
There has been lots of talk about the 2nd X-Files movie flying around, but nothing official yet. This is the latest news from SciFi.com (thanks Barbara!):
Duchovny: X-Files 2 On The Way

David Duchovny told the British Teletext Web site that a second X-Files movie is in the works. "We're all on the same page," Duchovny (Fox Mulder) told the site. "Gillian Anderson [Dana Scully] wants to do it. I want to do it. [The X-Files creator] Chris Carter, who would write and produce the film, wants to do it. And I believe Fox the studio wants to do it."

Duchovny added, "When you have the four major players in the enterprise wanting to do it, it will happen. It's just a matter of when. I hope it happens within the next year." The 43-year-old star quit the TV show before it was canceled, but said he was eager to play Mulder again. "I think it would be fun at this point, a few years removed, to get back into it and do it," he told the site.

X-Files in TV Guide:
One of the four May 30 - June 5 issues (25 Top Cult Shows Ever) of TV Guide has X-Files on its cover. I don't live in the US, so I can't scan the cover (if anyone has a copy and scans it, send it in!) Here is the text of the article (from GADDArchives.com):
The X-Files (1993-2002) FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) tracked down all sorts of monsters and aliens. But the most terrifying foes were the government bureaucrats who stood in their way. A horror story for a paranoid age.

Cult-ability: The series spawned a feature film (maybe more to come), a catchphrase ("The truth is out there"), at least 40 official books, 80 comics, three video games and innumerable Web sites. Says Mitch Pileggi, who played Assistant Director Skinner, "I did jury duty, and in his summation the defense attorney said, 'Everybody knows the truth is out there,' I thought, 'Oh, man! What's happened here?'"
Season 9 DVD Goodies:
FoxHome.com has some extras (including a deleted scene) from the Season 9 DVD on their Season 9 DVD Website. I haven't bought the DVD, so I can't post any of the other clips, but I captured a lot of video clips and press from Season 9, which you can see here. And, DVDTalk.com has a review of the Season 9 DVD here.
