ELWES SIGHTINGS

The 'Princess Bride' Dreamboat Materializes on 'The X-Files'
Cary Elwes Though members of the David Duchovny Estrogen Brigade [URL Added by Megan] might be distraught that The X-Files (premiering Nov. 11) is continuing without their favorite stud, the rest of us can get our hunk fix with the series' newest preternaturally handsome cast member, Cary Elwes. The 39-year-old British actor with Ken-doll good looks - best exemplified by his turn as the chivalrous swash-buckler Westley in Rob Reiner's 1987 flick The Princess Bride - will help beautify Files this season with his portrayal of shifty FBI paper-pusher Brad Follmer. We recently prepared Elwes for X-Files-style oddities by challenging him with a few stupid questions. - John Sellers

So your character is an alien, right?
Well, I am an alien... No, I really can't tell you, and I don't know anyway. They don't tell us anything at all.

The female viewing population wants to know: Will any episodes feature you walking around in a Speedo?
I have yet to be told this. But if that's the case, then so be it. I'll become eye candy overnight.

Speaking of sweets, finish this analogy: David Duchovny is to a Snickers bar as Cary Elwes is to what candy?
Oh, jeez. That would make me a 100 Grand. [Pause] Is that would you were going to write? You had a Zagnut question down there, didn't you?

Well, Zagnut is the funniest-sounding candy.
I know, I know. Is there going to be a cartoon of me next to this? A picture of me as a Zagnut?

Good idea, but no. How much did Andre the Giant eat on the set of The Princess Bride?
He had a very delicate taste, actually. He went to France and brought back pâté and little delicacies.

Did he teach you the sleeper hold?
Yes, he did. So far, thank God, I've not had the opportunity to use it. Should the occasion arise, then I'm sure I'll make him proud.

Will you call up my girlfriend and quote Wesley's line to Princess Buttercup: "There's a shortage of perfect breasts in the world. It would be a pity to damage yours"?
Now, that I can't do I'd love to, but there's a limit beyond which I won't go.
