Kids, the truth IS out there

by ANDREW BORKOWSKI

This week they [the kids' series, Meteor] turn to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of Sherlock Holmes, to try to explain the ghostly occurences that are happening at their school. The episode, entitled "The Truth Is In Here," is an X-Files send up.

The show's producers say they thought of the idea to spoof the popular sci-fi series even before casting former X-Files star William B. Davis in the role of Conan Doyle. Davis is the Vancouver-based actor who played the sinister and mysterious "Cigarette-smoking Man" on The X-Files.

A non-smoker, whose eyes twinkle with boyish mischief, Davis' smile is lugubrious, yet personable. Davis says his return to Canadian television has been rewarding. "There's still this prevailing attitude of 'Wow, you mean we really get to do this for a living?' It brings a special kind magic into the work."
